Join Kalabash instructor Clinton Davis and friends as we kick off our bi-monthly concert series of American Folk Music.
Most of the images evoked by the phrase "American folk music" emerged from east of the Mississippi River: the Scots-Irish "hillbillies" of Appalachia or the African American bluesmen of the Deep South for example. What about the other half of the country? Clinton and his friends will be performing a wide-ranging set of old tunes that emerged a little closer to our home in San Diego: haunting fiddle melodies from the mountains of Arizona, Native American dance music from Mexican border regions, Cowboy lullabies and nightmares, Polish music that planted the seed for an American fiddle classic in Texas, and melodies from Californians who lived under a Mexican flag.
Doors open at 6:30pm
Show starts at 7:00pm
